I am portrait photographer in Covington Virginia, also serving Clifton Forge, the Alleghany Highlands and surrounding counties. 

My journey with photography began in 1984 when I was handed an old canon 35mm (film) camera by a local newspaper and told to go out and take some pictures. I started and I never stopped. Decades later I turned in the old film style camera and converted to the newer more advanced digital ones.

I have stepped into the world of portrait photography but basically I just love taking pictures. That is why this site also includes an online stock photography store, where you can view and purchase prints and Digital Downloads from a variety of styles and subjects. If I am not at the computer editing and posting images, then you can bet I am out somewhere, camera in hand, getting more images.

I don’t have a specific style or game plan when taking pictures. If I am taking wildlife or nature shots, I just aim to get the most aesthetically pleasing photo as possible. When shooting portraits, I aim for what I call the “Life Shot”. I would rather catch you in an instant of just you being you rather than directing you into constant poses. I know that at times posed shots are a necessary evil, but I strive for a spontaneous,  lighter more relaxed atmosphere where I will encourage laughter, silliness and movement. 

My primary goal for all of my photography is to produce images that are bold, emotional and pleasing to the eye while capturing the true essence and beauty of whatever the subject matter may be.

 I have lived in Alleghany County my entire life and I am overjoyed to  serve the Covington and Clifton Forge area. I also serve Bath County, Botetourt County, Rockbridge County and the cities of Roanoke and Salem.
